"Teaching successful people to keep learning" is a challenge, according to Harvard professor Chris Argyris.

People who rarely experience failure struggle to deal with it. To make matters worse, once you've climbed to the top, you're surrounded by people who flatter you. That doesn't support their self-knowledge or learning.

We need self-knowledge to be true to ourselves. And we need to seek honest feedback in order to develop.

Sometimes we need to leave the arena to look at it from the balcony. I can offer you a balcony view and a safe space to reflect on questions like the following:

How do I deal with this situation? Where am I going? What are my values? What are my strengths? What are my blind spots? How do I come across to others?

Getting to know ourselves is important. Who we are is how we lead. When we know ourselves, we can better perceive others and adapt. Small changes in our behavior can have a big impact on others. Sometimes our strengths - of which we are rightly proud - can get in our own way.
